My Dog Has Fleas

Fleas are external parasites and not internal parasites like tapeworms or heart worms. Fleas look around or oval in shape with small legs. Cling the bodies of dogs and suck their blood.

If you notice or observe that your dogs are scratching very often, you should brush your hair and see if there are fleas there. If there is a major flea infestation, you should be very obvious as they are likely to see some of them falling from their bodies. If this is the case, I recommend that you take your dog the vet for immediate treatment. You also need to clean the physical environment including their dogs roam their cages and bedding.

However, chances are you can find some fleas on your dog if they have been grooming as well. Is likely to have received these fleas when they are taken to unknown locations for a walk or other dogs that may have reached the outside.

In addition to brushing the dogs with a comb, I always use my hands to brush your body and I find that I am able to detect fleas just as well. Pay special attention to areas around your neck, groin, legs and tail base. Every time I feel a small lump, which is part the hair to locate the trail. I will use a tissue or put a small plastic bag in my hands, using it as a glove, peeling out of the body flea. Then use my shoe or sandal to kill fleas. Most of the time, you will see the splashes of blood on the dead flea. So if you do a search of the body with their hands regularly, you should be able to detect the possible presence of fleas and even ticks on their dogs.

However, do not feel comfortable with brushing and peeling of the fleas on dogs, there are products like flea collars, sprays and shampoos. You may want to use regular or periodic, as part of their grooming routine. You must read and follow the instructions carefully to be effective when applied to dogs.

Once I found some fleas on my dog, I would like to search on them daily weight and at the same time, apply a first-line drug as it is very effective in keeping fleas and ticks at bay. I would also like to check their drawers and beds and cleaned daily to ensure that an environment exists clean and fleas has not gone there seeking refuge. I also use a spray on the dogs roam around the rest of the house.

For those who live in countries four seasons, it is found that fleas and ticks breed faster in spring and lead to major pests in the summer. Fleas can still reproduce at cold seasons like autumn and winter due to heating in homes.

If you maintain good hygiene and regular grooming regime for your dogs, the chances of a flea infestation is very thin. However, because their dogs can pick up a flea or two other dogs or when out for a walk in the woods, will to be diligent and take immediate action once they have detected the presence of a flea.
