Comparing Frontline Flea Control To Other Options

Frontline Flea Control Versus Other Options

Since fleas are such a nuisance, several options, including Frontline flea control, are available in the market today. Here is some information on the various options to enable you to make the right choice for your pet.

Comfortis: This once-a-month pill is highly effective in controlling fleas. This pill circulates in the bloodstream of your pet and, therefore, none of your family members are exposed to the product. When the fleas bite your pet, they consume the medication and die. The pill works fairly quickly. The price of Comfortis and Frontline flea control is roughly the same. However, Comfortis does not prevent the re-infestation of fleas.

Vectra 3D: This is effective in both flea and tick control. It is a repellent, so fleas and ticks jump off your pet once Vectra is applied. The ones that don't jump off, die is a short span of time. This repellent is better for ticks than it is for fleas. Also, one of its ingredients, namely Permethrin, is not tolerated by cats. If you have both cats and dogs as pets, avoid applying Vectra to your dog, as this could have an adverse affect on your cat.

Advantage: this is an effective, easy to use flea product. However, it does not last as long as Frontline.

Frontline Flea Control: This is a popular choice for getting rid of fleas in both dogs and cats. Frontline is tried and tested as it has been a trusted product for several years. A more powerful version of the product is Frontline Plus, which contains (S)-methoprene, which prevents the re-infestation of fleas. Frontline is one of the very few products that are effective for controlling ticks in cats.

Frontline Flea Control Versus Traditional Methods

Traditional methods include flea powders and sprays. Some of these can cause respiratory problems for your pets as well as family members. Traditional powders are not as effective as the new treatments and involve a great deal of trouble in application. Another option is the flea collar. This is good for preventing fleas, but is not effective if your pet already has a flea problem. Flea collars are economical and a good option if your pet has not been attacked by fleas. However, they smell and this takes away the fun of huddling your pet!
